These two photos show the 3rd ID shortly after they took Hitlers famous Alpine retreat , the 'Eagles Nest'. In the book 'Band Of Brothers, S. Ambrose has the 101st AB taking this when in fact the 3rd was there fours days prior and handed over the Eagles Nest to the 101st as a security force while they continued on in search of the rumored "Last Redoubt".
