Rank structure is based upon pre-’44 US Army Regulations. Rank insignia may be worn in the field at the individual’s discretion.
Only your approved rank is to be worn at re-enactments. Any other impression should be approved by the unit leaders.
Awards may be worn ONLY if earned through active service in the Regular or Reserve forces, or National Guard. They must be the wartime equivalent of a current award. Examples are: Good Conduct ribbon, Proficiency badges, service stripes. They must be approved by the unit leader.
GENERAL STANDARDS
SAFETY:
EVERY member of this unit is a safety officer! We are all responsible for making this a safe hobby. All members of this unit will strictly adhere to all club safety rules, at all times.
Each squad will have a safety officer, following RPS guidelines
AUTHENTICITY:
This is to be maintained at all times, period. We owe it to each other, and to the history we portray, to do no less. The 3d ID of the RPS will be expected to achieve and maintain the highest standards of authenticity, and requires all it’s members to do the same. All of the required clothing and equipment is available, either original or in reproduction. There is no excuse for a shoddy impression.
Each squad will have an authenticity officer, following RPS guidelines.
GROOMING:
Haircuts: Neatly cut above the collar and ears
Mustaches: Closely trimmed, above the lip and not past the corner of the mouth.
Beards: Not allowed. Maximum 2 - 3 days stubble allowed, per RPS or event requirements.
Uniforms: “Class A”s must be neat, cleaned, pressed, of a proper fit and worn
properly. Insignia, ribbons and patches must be historically correct. We
should never demean the history we are trying to preserve. Unless earned, individual awards and decorations should not be worn.
Eyeglasses: Round metal frames are required by 3d event. Silver is correct, Gold is
acceptable. No sunglasses, no plastic frames.
TABLE OF EQUIPMENT
BASIC IMPRESSION: 1944
Our basic impression is 1944, covering Italy and Southern France, and is sufficient for late war events.
This is the equipment to portray the average GI of the 3d Division, of WWII, from 1944 to 1945. The use of leggings and service shoes will add to expand the impression to the landings of North Africa and Sicily.
This is required clothing and equipment for 3d ID members at all re-enactments. Any deviation from the required list, must be approved by the unit leaders. If you have any questions, contact unit leaders.
Reverse Upper (rough out), with leggings, maybe worn either alternatively, or in place of the buckle boot. Any shoe/boot worn must be a correct reproduction or original.
Sweater, OD, 5 button, “V” neck, crew neck or vest.
Poncho, OD, hoodless WWII style.
M42/44 wool sleeping bag.
Barracks bag, denim or OD.
Duffel bag, single strap
Footlocker
CAPTURED ITEMS:
The use of Captured Items are to be kept to a minimum, and must have the approval of the Unit Commander.
NOTE:
The wearing or use of any non-authorized M43 clothing or equipment may be worn only at events with the appropriate scenario, and by the unit leaders approval
